In 2019, Beverage Trade Network will host the first-ever International Bulk Wine & Spirits Show (IBWSS) in China. For winemakers, suppliers, and distributors looking to capitalize on bulk trade and private label opportunities within the world’s most dynamic economy, IBWSS China presents an unparalleled opportunity. The two-day event will consist of a trade show exhibition and a business conference, both dedicated to growing a private label wine & spirits business within China.

Just as Beverage Trade Network’s IBWSS show in San Francisco helped winemakers and producers from around the world understand how to enter the U.S. market, the IBWSS show in China will help winemakers and producers from around the world understand how to enter the Chinese market. During the event, they will also have plenty of networking opportunities to develop the right connections to make their new strategic plan a reality.

The starting point for expansion to China for many winemakers is simply figuring out how to get their wines on retail shelves at supermarkets, especially the large big-box retailers that run very sophisticated private label programs. In China, for example, Western retailers like Walmart, Carrefour, Auchan, and Metro have already started to expand across the nation, and all of them have robust private label programs. Moreover, China has a growing number of its own national retailers, such as Lianhua, Wumart, Jingkelong, and Vanguard, all of which also need private label products.

If wine buyers from retailers such as Carrefour or Auchan decide they want to diversify their portfolio and contract for a new red wine varietal, where are they going to turn? They will want to make sure they have trustworthy suppliers in place that can provide sufficient quantity within a certain period of time. And that opens up plenty of opportunities for international winemakers and distilleries to get involved with bulk wines and private label wines and spirits. China is the play, and IBWSS China can help you connect with key distributors, wholesalers, and retailers within China.

One key aspect of IBWSS China is the exhibition hall, where it is possible for buyers and sellers to discuss the best way to get involved in the Chinese private label market. Retailers attending the event can meet and greet suppliers face-to-face, and find out whether they would be a good fit for their private label programs. At the same time, distributors and wholesalers will have an easy way to find new partners to meet their supply need.

IBWSS China is truly going to be a one-of-a-kind event, with the potential to open up the Chinese private label market to a vast number of Western producers, suppliers, and winemakers that otherwise would have no way to access the Chinese market.
