Shandong is located on the east coast of China and is the vital wine producing region. It covers around 60,700 square miles of land and is famous for Cabernet Gernischt, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Yantai is the largest wine-producing region located in Shandong, China.

Yunnan has a long history in the cultivation of grapes and the most of the production are table grapes and wine grapes. Ningxia is located 400 miles from Beijing, capital of China. It is one of the famous Chinese wine producing regions as it produces the best quality wines. It is near the yellow river, which helps in providing sufficient water for irrigation and the landscape is made suitable for the cultivation of wine grapes.

The wine produced in Ningxia has won many awards in domestic and international levels and is known as a star region of China.  Ningxia is mostly planted with red varieties such as Cabernet Gernischt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Due to its high-quality wine producing it has also attracted foreign winemakers to practice their craft and compete in Ningxia winemaker’s challenge.


Shanxi is located in North China region and border Hebel to the east, and Inner Mongolia to the north which is made up mainly of a plateau bounded party by mountain ranges. It is the most important wine producing region in eastern China. The region covers mainly 60,000 square miles of land the Luliang and Taihang mountain ranges.

The region has a climate with four distinct seasons, low humidity, high-intensity sunlight, and a daily temperature difference. Xinjiang is an independent region, located in the northwest of China. It is the region with the largest wine grape production in China. About 100,000 hectares of land are under vine in this region; from this only 16,700 hectares are used in winemaking.  It is also known as one of the biggest sources of table grapes and wine grapes in China.

Xinjiang was traditionally famous for its agriculture based on wheat and fruit, but in the past few decades, the cultivation of wine grape in this province has grown faster. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay are the main grape varietals grown in this region with an average production of 100,000 tonnes in a year.
